Individual therapy
My work with individual clients centers on helping you gain deeper insight into your experiences while fostering a greater capacity for self-compassion and sustainable change. Our time together can offer opportunities for healing, the adoption of less harmful coping strategies, strengthening your connection with yourself and others, and improving your overall quality of life.
Some areas we might explore in individual therapy could be:
Developmental, relational, religious, or complex trauma
Examining your relationship with substances or other coping mechanisms
Navigating self-worth, self-esteem, guilt, or shame
Symptoms connected to anxiety and/or depression
Improving work/life balance
Addressing feelings of loneliness, disconnection, or isolation
Couples therapy
Romantic relationships have a unique way of exposing both our highest potential and our deepest vulnerabilities. (Read: This is the part of life where all of our “stuff” tends to show up.) I support couples in exploring their unique relationship dynamics in a clear and approachable way that builds insight and self-awareness with practical tools to enhance emotional regulation, communication, and connection.
Topics to discuss in couples therapy may include:
Prioritizing emotional and physical intimacy amid the demands of high-stress work and parenting responsibilities.
Navigating betrayal trauma, including infidelity and “sex addiction”
Transitioning from monogamous to non-monogamous relationship structures
Supporting relationships where one or both partners have a trauma history
Repairing relationships impacted by substance use
Addressing communication styles and conflict patterns
My practice is LGBTQIA+, non-monogamy, and kink/BDSM-allied.
Sex therapy
Sex therapy is a specialized form of talk therapy that addresses the many intersecting factors that influence our sexual lives. As an AASECT-certified sex therapist, I work with individuals and couples in exploring issues related to sex and sexuality from a sex-positive, kink/BDSM-affirming, and relationally inclusive lens. (Please know that sex can be something we talk about as a primary concern, that we address as it comes us, or not at all.)
Here are some things we might explore in sex therapy:
Changes in arousal, desire, or sexual satisfaction
Impulsive sexual behaviors, including those labeled as “sex addiction”
Desire discrepancies within relationships
Chronic pain or other physical difficulties related to sex
Healing from sexual trauma
The intersection of sexuality and substance use recovery
Understanding and transforming shame around sex/sexuality
Individual and couples intensives
Sometimes, weekly therapy may not provide the momentum you are looking for. In these cases, I offer personalized intensives for individuals and couples who are ready to engage in multi-hour or multi-day sessions. These focused experiences are designed to help you make meaningful progress in a shorter amount of time.
EMDR may be offered as a supportive or primary focus during intensives.
